In a release to the Jamaica Stock Exchange, Sagicor
Life Jamaica (SLJ) announced the resignation of Dr. Dodridge Miller as Chairman
of the SLJ Board of Directors effective January 31, 2010. Dr. Miller will
continue to serve on the Board as a Director. Dr. Miller noted that
"Sagicor Financial Corporation, the parent of SLJ, will require
greater focus in the upcoming years as we pursue strategies that will allow us
to achieve our growth targets. I remain fully committed to Sagicor Life
Jamaica and will continue to contribute to this important member of our group
as a Director." In his place, Dr. the Hon R. Danny Williams was
appointed Chairman effective February 1, 2010. Dr. Williams is the
founding father of Life of Jamaica (rebranded to Sagicor Life Jamaica in 2007),
and served as President & CEO of the company on two separate occasions.
He serves on several other Boards, including that of the Jamaica Broilers
Group as Director Emeritus and Jamaica College as Chairman.
